Alessandro Marchetti

Alessandro Marchetti, born in Cori in 1884, was one of the most innovative aeronautical engineers of the twentieth century, author of projects that left a mark on the history of Italian aviation.

At the City and Territory Museum in Cori, Ala Marchetti recounts his life and inventions through an immersive and interactive journey, combining historical documents, digital reconstructions, and multimedia tools.

The room features four main installations: two life-size silhouettes of Marchetti as a child and adult, accompanied by audio narration, a video, a touch table, and a flight simulator. The video traces significant episodes in Marchetti’s career, including the famous confrontation with General Guidoni. The touch table allows you to explore his aeronautical designs with text, images and 3D 360° models, revealing technical details and design choices of his aircraft. The route concludes with the SM79 flight simulator, which offers the opportunity to virtually fly one of Marchetti’s most famous aircraft and observe the Lepini Mountains from above, as he himself would have flown over them.

Ala Marchetti recounts not only the inventions, but also the people and decisions that made them possible, transforming the visit into a concrete experience of discovery and exploration of the history of engineering.
